First Antarctic Expedition and Activities

The first Malaysian Polar research was conducted in Antarctica started from 2001 until now. A scientist from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) was pointing their observations at Scott Base Antarctica in October 2002. The first expedition by Wayan Suparta was conducted on 27 January – 10 February 2008. While the last expedition of Wayan Suparta was conducted from 21 January 2017 – 28 February 2017 at Carlini Base of Argentine, Antarctic Peninsula. See the video for the research conducted HERE.

First Arctic Expedition and Activities

The first Malaysian Polar research was conducted in Northern hemisphere started from 2008 until 2017. A scientist from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) was pointing out their observations at Husafell observatory owned by NIPR Japan. This project was realized through the University Research Grant and collaborated with NIPR and SIUI. The first expedition has been done by Wayan Suparta and Mardina Abdullah on 2 -14 September 2008.
